BKK-3 - Miss Sargfabrik, Vienna 1996. An amazing model for urban living I was lucky enough to get a tour of awhile back on a trip. Financed, designed, and inhabited by the architects, builders, and local residents, who formed a non-profit cooperative in reaction to rising housing costs and discriminatory landlords. A planing process that lasted several years yielded a design that accommodates all of the inhabitants; from the elderly, and disabled to large families and bachelors, each space is tailored to the individual needs of the residents; which center around communal spaces that service the whole.
